Hi, My name is Boomer!
Looking for a snuggle pup? I am a very loving and sweet black Labrador Retriever mix and I come with a great friend, too!.?I am a big lap dog! I?weigh 65?pounds and LOVE to cuddle on your lap. I am 7 years young, very healthy, spayed?and up to date on my shots.
I?live in Brooklyn, NY. My?owners love me?very much, but with increased work demands with lots of travel involved, I am?spending far too much time with pet sitters. My?owners realize that we need a stable, loving home with people who have lots of time to spend with me.
They are dearly hoping to find me?a nice home in a suburban area. They are looking for a new family who will cherish me?as much as they do.
They would love to keep in touch with me, too, if that is OK with you.
Here’s what my owners said about me:
Boomer is an incredibly sweet and gentle dog. When she was younger, she was full of energy, but now she’s a bit more mellow (although still thrilled when her owners come home). She’s happiest when she’s around people and can get attention, and loves being held/pet above everything else. She’s always been perfectly housebroken, and is well behaved when you leave (although she loves sitting on couches and other soft furniture, so you may need to train her about where she’s allowed to sleep).

Boomer’s Personality
Boomer is an incredibly sweet and gentle dog. When she was younger, she was full of energy, but now she’s a bit more mellow (although still thrilled when her owners come home). She’s happiest when she’s around people and can get attention, and loves being held/pet above everything else. She’s always been perfectly housebroken, and is well behaved when you leave (although she loves sitting on couches and other soft furniture, so you may need to train her about where she’s allowed to sleep).
Boomer’s Current Home Environment
We have a 1600 sq. foot apartment, and Boomer has the run of it. We both work a lot (part of why we have to re-home her and our other dog, Baxter), but walk her in the mornings and then have her walked 2 more times during the day. Boomer loves hanging out with us on weekends, going to dog runs and taking naps.
Boomer’s Current Family:
We’re two guys in our thirties, who have had our dogs for almost as long as we’ve been together (8 years). But more recently, our jobs have required a lot of travel, and we’re learning that we can no longer give our dogs the attention and time that they need. We’ve always been loving owners and have put work into training our dogs and socializing them with other dogs and people – and it breaks our heart to have to re-home them (but it’s just where we are in life).
Boomer’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Boomer loves tug with pretty much any object – but ropes are her favorite. She also loves to gnaw on bones. She adores stuffed animals but will generally rip them into pieces within 30 minutes of receiving them.
For food, we’ve always been pretty focused on not letting our dogs have any human food – but she loves most dog treats, ice cubes and scraps when we’re cooking.
Cute Boomer Story:
When she was much smaller, we used to hold Boomer in our laps or let her lie on us on the couch. She liked it so much that now she always wants to do it, even though she’s ~65 lbs. So sometimes we’ll let her up and she’ll stretch her whole body on top of one of us, and be in heaven.
Why is Boomer Being Rehomed?
Our lives and work have become a lot more complicated, and it means both of us are on the road (often in different places) a lot. It kills us to have to re-home our dogs, but it’s not fair to them to be constantly leaving them with a combination of walkers, boarders and daycare.
Boomer’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
We would LOVE to rehome Boomer and Baxter together, and to find a place that had a yard. They’ve been happy city dogs (and there’s nothing they prefer to lying around with us on a lazy Sunday) but they’re big and we’ve always known that they would love a yard to play in without any worries of furniture/people/etc.
