Hi, our?names are Johnny?& Katie!
We are looking for our forever home and we need to be adopted together. Are you the home for us? Learn more about us by reading below!
Johnny?–I am a 6-year-old male?mix. I weigh 60-pounds and sometimes like to think I am the alpha male with other male dogs, so it’s best that I am the only dog in the house (except for Katie). Other than my alpha dog syndrome, I am the most lovable dog you will ever meet! My current owners refer to me as a gentle giant. I am great on and off the leash (and sometimes don’t need a leash at all because I will just follow you wherever you go.) I am up to date on all my shots, great with kids, and am house broken.
Katie?–I am a 6-year-old female mix?who weighs 60-pounds. My owners like to say I am similar to a cat in that while I am independent, I do still like to be lovable! I am a very affectionate dog when I want to be and love to explore! I love walks, but should remain on a leash as I do tend to wander when not. If I need to go outside or if something is wrong, I will let you know because I am so smart!?I am up to date on all my shots, great with kids, other dogs and cats, am house broken and have no health problems!
Both of us currently live in Great Lakes, Illinois, but would love to see where you live!

Johnny?& Katie’s Personalities
Johnny?– Alpha-male, but incredibly sweet natured.
Katie?– Independent?but lovable.
Johnny?& Katie’s Current Home Environment
We live in a quadplex with limited yard space, but we are able to take Katie to the dog park every morning and evening with her brother, Johnny, where they get their daily exercise. Katie sleeps on a couch in the basement at night and while no one is home where she will not get into mischief. Johnny sleeps in his crate where he feels secure, otherwise he will get anxious and have accidents in the house.
Johnny?& Katie’s Current Family:
My husband and I have been married for 3 years, and we have a 10 month old daughter. My husband serves in the Navy, and I work full time as a computer technician for a Fortune 500 company. We work opposite shifts and never get a full day together, but we somehow make it work. It is always a joy coming home to Katie and Johnny as they greet me at the door and jump in my arms.
Johnny?& Katie’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Katie likes chewing on plush toys, and animal bones and hides. She enjoys pig ears and oxtails. She also lives to run around at the park with her brother.
Johnny loves chewing on bones and animal hides, running around at the park with his sister Katie.
Cute?Johnny?& Katie?Story:
Katie?–When my daughter was brought home from the hospital for the first time, Katie and Johnny took to her as if she was their own. They stayed by her side, protecting her. One time I sat her down on the floor, and Katie stayed laying there next to her. I went to pick her up and I could have sworn that Katie nearly growled at me lol, but she knew better! It’s a nice thing to know that your pets will protect you and your children.
Johnny?–Johnny is a gentle giant who thinks he’s a lap dog. One of the things I really love about Johnny is that he can be trusted off the leash because he will never leave your side. And if he wanders too far, calling his name will send him galloping back to you with lots of kisses.
Why are?Johnny?& Kate Being Rehomed?
The plan was to stay in one place when I first got my pets 6 years ago, but life tends to change in the most unexpected ways. My husband is active duty Navy, which we received orders to transfer to Guam in April. We considered bringing our pets with us, but also considered cost of transporting two pets overseas, conditions in pet cargo, distance of travel, time in quarantine on the island, and most importantly, the climate on the island as it will be too hot for them. We ultimately felt it would be best, and more fair to them to be rehomed into a loving family who will provide for them better than we may be able to in the near future.
Johnny & Kate’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
The family must have a large fenced in yard or access to a dog park where they can run and get their exercise. Easy outdoor access with a pet door is ideal, but Katie will let you know when it’s time to go out. If the family has other dogs, a trial introduction is strongly recommended so that Johnny can feel comfortable.
Additional Comments:
The food they eat is Natural Balance LID formula due to Katie’s food sensitivities.
