Hi, My name is Max!
I am a black, short hair Male Miniature Pinscher Dog. I am 3-4 years old and weigh 11 lbs. I live in Penfield, NY, near Rochester.
I am a typical Minpin! I a very spirited, and not a big fan of noise, commotion or small children. I am more of a one-person dog, and love nothing more than to snuggle up on the lap of my favorite human. I am very affectionate and sweet – a real snuggle bunny.
I have a rather uncertain past – I was adopted by my current family from a rescue when I was a year old. There may have been some abuse in my past, and as a result, I am nervous around strangers, and can even be aggressive. I need to be crated when people come over – especially little ones.
Despite my nervous nature, I am a really sweet little dog with a lot to offer the right person. I am looking for a loving new home where I can be with someone who is home most of the time and is looking for a loving companion to hang on their every word. My perfect home would be with a couple or single who are either retired, or work from home. I would be best as an only pet. The best situation would be a quiet home where there is not a lot of coming and going, visitors or other things that make me nervous.
I am very healthy, neutered and up to date on my shots. I will bring all of my supplies with me. Please offer me a home today. I promise to be the best dog I can be. I will wow you with wiggles, love you with licks and add immeasurable love, joy, laughter and companionship to your life.

Max’s Personality
Max can be very affectionate and is very much a lap dog. He can be very loving and sweet towards his favorite human. However, he is very anxious and needs to be with you all the time if you are home. He is able to be home by himself during the day without a problem. He is very anxious around strangers and can be aggressive. He also does not like loud noise and fast movements around him. He is very sensitive to noises outside, particularly the doorbell and will be anxious and on edge all day if it rings once. We adopted Max from a rescue when he was about one year old. The rescue was unsure about his past as he was found as a stray.
Max’s Current Home Environment
We have three very active young boys. Our house can be very noisy with constant activity due to our boys and their friends.
Max’s Current Family:
We are a married couple with three boys ages 10, 6 and 2. They are very active and energetic. They also have friends from the neighborhood that are constantly at our house. We all love Max very much but the boys are not able to interact with him due to his anxiety level. We both work during the day and Max is in his crate from about 8:30 to 4 everyday.
Max’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Max loves any and all food. He is very food motivated. He does not like toys and does not play with them. He will sometimes chew on a rope toy but for just a few minutes. Max does like to sit outside. He likes walks but will not walk when the ground is cold or there is any snow. He loves to sit on the edge of our couch and look out the window. He also loves to sleep under a blanket.
Cute Max Story:
Max loves to sit by our gas fireplace. As soon as we turn the switch on he is there sitting on his blanket as close as he can get to the fire. He would sit there even in the middle of summer.
Why is Max Being Rehomed?
We need to rehome Max because he has become more aggressive towards our children. He has bit and nipped all three of our children as well as some of their friends. He has also become more aggressive towards my husband and myself and has bit us. We are very sad to have to rehome Max but he has become unsafe for our children. We can not have him out of his crate if we have any friends or family over. We have consulted two dog trainer professionals who have been unable to help us change his behaviors.
Max’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
We think that Max would do best living in a home with a single adult, preferably female, without any children that live in or visit the home. He is very sensitive to outside noises and could bark often, so ideally he would do better living in a quiet neighborhood. He loves to be with his human parent, and although he does well in his crate, he would also love to be with someone who is home often.
Additional Comments:
We love Max and would like to see him go to a home where he will be less anxious and very happy. We would like to find someone that can give him all the attention that he wants as well.
