Hi, My name is Murphy!

Wheaten Terrier For Adoption Houston

I have been adopted!

I am a Blonde, medium length hair Male Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Dog. I am 16 months and weigh Medium/36lbs. I live in Houston, TX.

Loveable Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Seeks Stay-At-Home Owners

My name is Murphy. I am a gorgeous, healthy, purebred Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier. I am just 16 months old, neutered and up to date on my vaccinations. I am medium sized, weighing about 60 pounds. I get along very well with other dogs, cats and kids.

I have a problem. You see, I hate being by myself. Being left alone makes me very unhappy, and right now, my life is not very happy. My owners love me very much, but because they both have busy work schedules, I have to stay home by myself all day. I absolutely hate it. I am miserable, and they are very sad that I am miserable.

Although it breaks their hearts in pieces to do so, they have realized that I need a home with people who are able to spend time with me during the day. The ideal situation for me would be with someone who works from home – or a stay-at-home mom, preferably with some great kids for me to play with.

I would love to have a nice, big backyard to play in, too.

I am such a great dog. I just love people so much. I am active, and enjoy getting out every day for a long walk or a good run. I also love to be at your side, helping you do the laundry, watching a show on TV, or sampling your cooking.

I am really good at wagging my tail, looking cute, making you feel really special and offering my devotion and unconditional love.

Murphy’s Personality

Murphy is a high energy sweetheart. Murphy loves playing fetch with tennis balls. He is a fast runner, who can jump very high too. He loves walks and when he gets attention. He loves to cuddle and knows basic commands. He doesn’t like to be alone and will Velcro to you wherever you go. He is very smart and has a puzzle that he completes everyday.

Murphy’s Current Home Environment

Murphy currently lives in a town home in the city where he is able to go on two walks a day and play with the other dog that lives here. He sleeps in his plastic kennel. Has free time to run around in the afternoon. He is fed once a day, in the evening.

Murphy’s Current Family:

I am an engineer that works for most of the day and my girlfriend is a teacher. We love Murphy more than anything and we just want him to have someone that will be around most of the time.

Murphy’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Murphy eats natures recipe – chicken and sweet potato. He loves to play fetch and loves to jump very high to catch any sort of ball you will throw. He also loves to chew on Beef tail chews and pig skin rolls. He has a dog puzzle that he loves to do as well.

Cute Murphy Story:

We have taken Murphy camping a few times and he loves it. During a particular camping trip, it was especially cold. When we went to bed for the night, Murphy had a spot to sleep in between my girlfriend and I. When we woke up in the morning, it was nearly freezing outside and Murphy was staring at me from down by my feet. I could tell he was saying, “Dad, why is it so cold?” We bundled him up with a beanie on his head and snuggled with him. It turned out to be one of the best camping trips ever.

Why is Murphy Being Rehomed?

My girlfriend and I both work and have busy schedules. Murphy has anxiety and does not like being alone. He doesn’t like spending time alone in a kennel and needs a backyard. My girlfriend and I have both attempted to help Murphy overcome his anxiety, but us being gone all day at work doesn’t work for him. Along with his anxiety comes him not being able to be in a kennel for long periods of time, leading to him soiling his crate.

Murphy’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

We love Murphy and want him to go to the right family, who loves him just as much, if not more than we do. Ideally, he would do much better with someone who works from home, or is able to come home and let him out every 4 hours or so. We are looking for someone with high energy that could possibly run, bike or throw the ball for him a lot. He would probably benefit from a big backyard.
