Lucy’s Personality
Sweet Lucy LOVES her family. She truely listens for the bus each day and jumps up when she hears it. She wants to play and lick them at all times. She needs to run (and needs space) and probably is the fastest runner I have ever seen. Each night she comes and sits in my lap (mom) by placing her front paws across my lap and hind legs on the floor. She loves to be petted and prasied, sometimes she even lays her head on my chest. The boys says, “she needs her mama hug” and it is true!
Most importantly, she loves to protect and is extremely devoted. She is a phenomenal watch dog and is constantly checking on her boys, whether it is following them when they are outside, circling the pool when they are swimming or doing bed checks watch….she goes to each room throughout the night and just peeks in to be sure all is well. She is also EXTREMELY protective when it comes to strangers. She barks quite loud when a stranger is near and will snap at strangers. She is a rescue dog and seems to be wary of men she does not know. No one is allowed on her turf near her boys. Protecting is her job and she does dig things when she is nervous. I feel incredibly safe with Lucy protecting us.
Lucy’s Current Home Environment
House with a fenced backyard and a pool. Kids in and out all day long!! Lots of activity around. Lucy is inside if no one is home and at night. She loves a blanket the playroom couch. the moment the boys are home or outside so is she!! She runs circles around them. She will jump in the pool to protect the swimmer….she feels like she has to safe them even when all is fine. If the kids swim for 4 hours, she circles the pool for 4 hours.
Lucy’s Current Family:
Family of 5…..three VERY ACTIVE boys age 12, 8 and 6
Lucy’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Loves anything she can play tug of war with. Loves to explore and RUN. She eats IAMS dry dog food and does love left-overs
Cute Lucy Story:
She warms my heart everyday. She is so devoted. One time our boys ran off with out her into the green belt to a friends. She is begged me to let her out, I finally gave in 10 minutes later. She ran straight to the greenbelt and found them and stayed with them.
She loves when the boys lay on the floor…she immediately stands over them and licks and licks and LICKS them!!
Why is Lucy Being Rehomed?
Lucy needs space to run, a farm or ranch would be perfect for her where she can feel useful. She is so protective of our family that she is aggressive with all strangers and other dogs (although some dogs she is fine with, we just never know) and being a neighborhood with so many people coming in and out of the house we are not comfortable that we always have a chance to put her away. As I said, she does try to bite strangers, but never people she knows. You must be sure she is comfortable with people before you leave them alone with her.
Lucy’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
A family to love her and be kind to her. She is a hard worker but also very affectionate and loves approval. I want to know she is a bit spoiled….sleepiing inside a night, getting attention.
Additional Comments:
Lucy is loving and sweet but you must be aware that she is always in protective mode.
