Hi, My name is Jonah!
I am a gray and white Male Domestic Shorthair Cat. I am just 5 years old . I live in Houston, Texas. I am neutered, very healthy, up to date on my shots and very clean and well behaved. I am a love cat. I simply love everyone – adults, kids, dogs, other cats… Maybe I am a bit clingy, but that’s part of my charm! I am well-trained too! I come when called and listen when I am told “No!”.
I am being rehomed by my owner’s family, who are unable to keep me. They are heartbroken to have to make this very difficult choice, but are hopeful that they can find a wonderful new home for me. A home where I will be cherished and kept safe and healthy for the rest of my life.
The Story of Jonah:
My story is that my owner noticed someone pitch something out of the window of a truck on a busy highway. Guess what? It was me! I was a tiny, bedraggled, flea-infested 6 week old kitten. He nursed me back to health, took care of my vet care needs, and we have been best buds ever since. We had a great life for the past 5 years, but tragically, my owner has been in an accident, and he is not capable of caring for me any longer.
Jonah’s Perfect New Home Will Be:
- Inside home only! Jonah hasn’t been outside since he was five weeks old.
- A strong No-Declawing philosophy!
- There should be very few or no pets in the home.
- He would do well with a large family, a single person, or anything in between, just so he received plenty of attention.
- We are looking for The Best Home Ever for this sweet, sweet boy who very much deserves it.

Jonah’s Personality
Jonah is extremely affectionate! If you are looking for an independent cat, pass up this guy. He tolerates being left alone, but would much rather be close to his people – purring, head bumping, playing or calmly sitting beside them. He loves a belly rub and good conversation, his vocalizations being particularly sweet and varied. Jonah always comes when he’s called.
He always uses his litter box and scratching post. He’s very smart and understands the meaning of “no”.
Jonah’s Current Home Environment
Jonah has been an only pet, living in a small apartment with one adult (male) who would sometimes be gone for long hours, and sometimes be home at length.
He has also lived in a multi-cat home.
He is currently in a room by himself, in a one story house containing two adults, five cats and a dog.
Jonah likes quietness or lots of activity; It’s all the same to him.
He is on Revolution.

Jonah was rescued during the Gulf Oil Spill in 2010. My son attended a training class in southern Louisiana. While on a break he noticed a truck slow down, then pitch something out the window. This turned out to be a five week old kitten, riddled with fleas and ear mites.
Jonah’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Jonah is five (birthday guessed to be 5-05-10) and he enjoys chasing feathers, or playing with toys which he invents. He prefers hard food (Iam’s) but also eats a half can of Friskies canned food every day.

Jonah has a special gift. When I have a migraine coming on but haven’t felt it yet, he pesters me by jamming his cold nose into my left eye. He has also predicted a recurrent rash that I used to get. He is so sweet and sensitive.
Why is Jonah Being Rehomed?
My son had a life-altering accident and we are unable to keep his cat since we already have five. It would be overly stressful for all concerned. Jonah lived with my husband and I for two years, so I know him well.
